  • What is the best time frame for a poured slab?

    A poured slab should be done as soon as possible, in order to avoid cracking and settling. The best time frame is within one week of pouring foundation forms or steel reinforcing bars (rebar). You need at least a day for the concrete to dry before it can support heavy loads such as equipment used during construction. 

  • What are some precautions I should take when pouring concrete near trees or plants?

    Trees and plants should be trimmed back at least three feet from the proposed location of concrete. You may also want to consider removing a tree if it is too close for comfort, but this will depend on how much space you need to pour your slab. Remember that trees can cause cracks in sidewalks or other concrete structures because they have deep roots.

  • How do I make sure my pour doesn't crack?

    There are a few things you can do to make sure your pour isn't going to crack. The first thing is the temperature of the concrete should be at least 15 degrees Celsius, if not then it will need to wait until it reaches that temperature before being used. Secondly, use fresh water when mixing and adding cement products as this can provide greater strength and durability. 

  • Can someone help me with my project if I'm not very good at pouring concrete myself?

  • How long does concrete take to dry?

    It typically takes about 24 hours before the concrete will be strong enough to handle normal day-to-day activities, but it is always safe to wait at least 7 days before full use.
